Cannabis products rich in THC are a great option for those wanting strong relief or a good nights sleep. But dialing it in requires lots of patience and a little experimentation.
The biggest mistake we see with edibles or tinctures is that someone eats too much and when it hits, it can be uncomfortable or even a little scary.
To help you find your optimal dose, please follow the steps below:
If this is your first time using a THC product, we strongly urge you to NOT use any other products (cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol or other drugs) until you know how the product will affect you.
Your mantra will be go small and go slow.
- Start with a very small dose 2.5mg to 5mg.
- Wait at least 30-45 minutes. Patience here is key.
- After 30-45 minutes has elapsed, assess how you feel.
Do you feel Relaxed? Tingly, Buzzed? Happy? Different?
…….
If you can answer YES to any or all of the questions above, STOP.
The effects will only continue to intensify.
…….
If you answer NO and don’t feel anything at all,
take half as much as your first dose and wait another 30-45 minutes.
…….
Remember you can put more in, but you can’t take it out. It may take a few attempts, but you WILL find your optimal dose.
Factors that can influence how long a cannabis product can take to affect you include: when you ate last, what you ate, your unique metabolism and endocannabinoid system, other drugs you take, alcohol consumption.
It is always best when using cannabis products, to not combine with other pharmaceuticals or alcohol.
TIP:
Edibles: Instead of chewing and swallowing, allow the edible to melt slowly in your mouth. This will often speed up the time to onset and lessen the more intense effect which results from swallowing and thus entering the digestive tract.
Tinctures: Put the desired amount under your tongue and hold for one to two minutes before swallowing. This allows for maximum absorption through the oral mucosa.
